Well hello there! Happy May! Here we are, still staying safer at home. Still learning how to embrace and function in this new normal. Still doing our best to be our best during these uncertain times. It’s not easy, but you’re not alone. We are here for you if you need us đź’™
***If you are having ANY trouble at all staying in touch or connected with your mentee while we’re in quarantine, LET YOUR COACH KNOW RIGHT AWAY!***

Challenge for the week:
For May, the challenges will center around the theme of Live Healthy, Be Healthy. This week’s challenge is to get moving! Talk to your mentee about the importance of exercise and some options of how to get it in each day. Then, try some options out and see what your mentee likes best! Suggest going for a bike ride or a jog (perhaps you could go together and stay 6 ft apart!). If your mentee has a big family, tell them to get everyone together and play Tag! Perhaps some options are not available today, but you could talk about/plan to eventually play tennis, basketball, volleyball or swimming. For some extra fun, challenge your mentee to a push-up, sit-up or jump rope contest! Whatever you decide, just make sure you do it together and have fun while practicing healthy habits!
BONUS CHALLENGE: May is Mental Health Awareness month. It’s normal for children and youth to experience a wide range of strong emotions as they grow and mature. However, when extreme emotions start having negative effects on relationships and daily activities, it’s time to intervene. Check out YouthGov.Org for more information.
TIP of the WEEK: As a mentor, it’s easy to slip into the role of trying to “fix” our mentees or show them a “better” way of life. However, at Intentional Mentoring, our goal is to have mentors walk alongside mentees. Your role is to nurture, listen, guide and provide support. Check out this video called White Saviorism for another perspective.
We love seeing photos of you and your mentee spending time together! Please share them with us via your coach or using the hashtag #intentionalmentoringmadison

QUOTE of the WEEK
“In order to be a mentor, and an effective one, one must care. You must care. You don’t have to know how many square miles are in Idaho, you don’t need to know what is the chemical makeup of chemistry, or of blood or water. Know what you know and care about the person, care about what you know and care about the person you’re sharing with.” ~ Maya Angelou
All the best,
