Mentor Development

For September, the challenges will center around the theme of Back to School. This week’s challenge is to work with your mentee to set SMART goals. Use this document to talk through some personal, behavioral and/or academic goals that you will monitor and track with your mentee throughout the school year. Your coaches will be checking in with you about this and offering you support in helping your mentee work toward achieving the goals they set!

From September through November you will be discussing Race and Equity in your coaching meetings. Be sure to check out the articles and videos here.

We are excited to announce that we will be returning to a corn maze this year and are inviting all mentors, mentees, and families. This year we will be at Enchanted Valley Farms (5047 Enchanted Valley Rd, Cross Plains, Wisconsin) on Sunday, October 13th at 1pm! Someone from Intentional Mentoring will be near the entrance wearing Intentional Mentoring gear from 1-1:30pm. If you plan to join us, please meet during that time and we will purchase your ticket and a treat!

If you know you will be coming, feel free to send us an email so we can expect you. If you decide to come at the last minute, we look forward to seeing you there!

Lion Dance at Alicia Ashman Library
Saturday, October 5
10:00am-11:00am

Join Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association as they perform The Lion Dance at Alicia Ashman Library (733 N High Point Rd, Madison). Traditionally, during the Chinese New Year, Lion Dance Troupes will visit various establishments throughout the community to perform the traditional custom of “Cai Qing” (採青) or “Plucking the Greens”. Like a curious cat, the lion dances over to the green and red envelope or “Hóngbāo” (紅包), which contains money, and eats the green. Once the green is transformed into good fortune, the lion spits it out, keeping the red envelope. The lion dance is believed to bring good luck and fortune to all places they visit. Come and enjoy this exciting event! All are welcome and no registration is required.
