Movie Time!

We are SO excited to have a community event this summer after a pause over the last couple of years.  While we aren’t jumping right back into our cookout, we are trying something new.  Intentional Mentoring is hosting a movie night at Marcus Point Cinema on July 7th @ 6:30 pm to see the movie Lightyear!

This event is for mentors (and families), mentees (and families), Intentional Mentoring core team members (and families), and anyone else in our community that has been connected to us through collaborative conversations, volunteering, or providing funds and donations.  This is our way to celebrate you all.

Everyone who comes to the event will get a seat, popcorn, and a drink.

Katie Mae and Franny will be in the lobby at a table by 6:15 pm to welcome you and make sure everyone gets what they need.  RSVPs are helpful, but not necessary.  If you know you will be able to come, please let us know so that we have an idea of who all will be there, but people are welcome to just show up as well!

Weekly Training Resource

This week’s training resource is a 19 minute TED talk is called “Racism Thrives on Silence”. Don’t forget to fill out the response form after completing each training.

Challenge for the Week:

For June, the challenges will center around the theme of Embrace Diversity. This week’s challenge is to learn about other cultures. You could share and talk about you and your mentee’s cultural traditions, learn to say a few words in another language (check out Ways to Say Hello in Different Languages), try some ethnic foods (Best Ethnic Restaurants in Madison) or visit a cultural exhibit (Visit Madison – Museums & Galleries). Explore and learn together!

BONUS CHALLENGE: We can’t let any more time pass without doing the work to fight for social justice. This month’s bonus challenge is to begin or continue the work in yourself. I don’t know where each of you are in your journey or what you need to hear, but I do know that we are all works in progress with room to grow. Here are several resources to help you on your journey (These count towards your training! Be sure to fill out the form above after learning). Anti-Racist Resources

Tip of the Week:

It can be hard to remember that a mentor’s role is not to be a friend or a parent but to be a listening ear, a voice of wisdom and a source of truth. Hold tight to your role and never underestimate its value in your mentee’s life!

📸 We love seeing photos of you and your mentee spending time together! Please share them with us via your coach or using the hashtag #intentionalmentoringmadison 📸
