Our awesome mentors come from the Madison and surrounding community.
We seek adults 18 years and older who want to make a commitment to a mentoring relationship. All mentors fill out an application, school volunteer forms, disclosers, and are background checked for the safety of our mentors and mentees. These mentors work to build a relationship with a student that often becomes two-directional.
While students are supported by another adult in their life, the mentors obtain a new perspective on life as well. The mentors are held accountable to connect with their student throughout the week and across every area in their life (school, community and home). We hold the belief that interconnected relationships throughout the community strengthen our community and our future generation.
We believe mentors in the community often do not get the support and encouragement they need to play this difficult role. We coach our mentors through trainings on various topics, and monthly coaching meetings to provide support and help reflection. Our mentor coaches hold the perspective that intentional questions, stories and conversations can develop roots that help students stand stronger as they face their future.
