Our History

After noticing gaps in mentoring and support for students, we participated in 10 years of research to identify aspects of a program that would better fill the community needs and support local organizations.  The outcome of this research outlined what is now Intentional Mentoring Inc.

Katie Mae Imhoff-SmithKatie Mae Imhoff-Smith

Founder, President, Director

Katie Mae Imhoff-Smith is a Madison native, dog lover, and ice cream enthusiast.  Holding degrees in psychology, communication arts and education (curriculum, instruction, and assessment), she has been mentoring, coaching and teaching students both in and out of the Madison Metropolitan School District for the last 13 years.  Currently, she is an 8th-grade   teacher at Akira Toki Middle School.

Dana FinneDana:

Lead Mentor Coach

Dana Finne is proud Wisconsonite, active outdoor enthusiast, animal lover and health nut. She holds an undergrad degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire and a Masters in Teaching from Cardinal Stritch University. She began her teaching career in Milwaukee and, after 7 years, moved to Madison where she currently teaches 8th grade at Akira Toki Middle School.

FrannyFranny:

Social Worker, Events Coordinator

Franny has been working with youth in Madison for over ten years. Hailing from northern Minnesota, she moved to Wisconsin to attend UW-Madison where she earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Social work and later a Masters degree in Social Work. Currently, she works as an adoption social worker in Madison.

In her free time, Franny enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, eating at the Pizza Ranch with her husband Ray, and watching Frasier reruns.

JohnJohn:

Outreach Lead and Executive Management

John has an entrepreneurial spirit and feels called to be involved in the community by utilizing his business background and passion for helping start-up organizations be successful. He has extensive experience leading organizational change, and building and mentoring diverse teams to scale.

He spends his “spare” time with his wife raising two young children who reside in the Madison area with there dog Charlie.

Ted:

Data wrangler and stem support

With a background in psychology and computer science, Ted studies the biology of emotion in a neuroscience research lab. In a previous life, Ted worked in healthcare software development. He loves puppies, coffee, and all things spicy, and pairs them with video games, science, and technology whenever possible.
